Red Dot Design Award 2025: Nova Pro honored for outstanding product design

HELLMUT RUCK GmbH has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for “Product Design 2025”. The award was given to the Nova Pro foot care device, which impresses thanks to its pioneering design, technical precision and intuitive usability – developed to meet the high standards of professional users in the field of podiatry.

With the Nova Pro, RUCK combines modern product design with medical functionality of the highest standard. The large, removable touchscreen provides intuitive user guidance – available either via a clear basic view or a customisable favourites view. The system is complemented by a swivelling, ergonomic handpiece, an automatic start/stop function and an ingenious filter system with magnetic covers for quick access.

The Nova Pro also sets new standards in terms of hygiene: the device hose can be completely removed and cleaned, and the clamping unit’s interchangeable head is sterilisable – meeting the highest standards in podiatry practice.

Smart IoT technology enables automatic software updates, real-time diagnostics and wireless connectivity between the Nova Pro and other devices such as a treatment chair/couch. The result: maximum operational reliability, efficient workflows and seamless integration into the practice environment – with the Nova Pro display as the key control element.

The Red Dot Award is presented by an independent jury including 43 design experts from 21 countries. Entries are assessed on the basis of four fundamental principles of good design: the quality of function, appeal, usability and responsibility. Thanks to this victory, the Nova Pro ranks among the world’s best product developments of 2025.

From 8 July 2025, the Nova Pro will also be seen at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, the world’s largest museum of contemporary design. It will be presented as part of the ‘Design on Stage’ and ‘Milestones in Contemporary Design’ exhibitions. It will also be featured in the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2025.

“This award confirms our philosophy: design is not an end in itself – it serves the people who work with our devices every day,” says Managing Director Simeon Ruck. Developed in Neuenbürg by a multidisciplinary team, the Nova Pro stands for technical sophistication, ergonomics and long-lasting quality – entirely in line with modern podiatry.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions worldwide and looks back on a history spanning almost 70 years: in 1955, a jury convened for the first time to evaluate the best designs of the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Since then, the coveted “Red Dot” award has been an internationally highly regarded seal of quality for outstanding design. The winners are presented in yearbooks, museums and online.
