Nova Pro - Changing the dust filter bag

Changing the dust filter bag – for maximum suction power and hygiene

The dust filter bag (item no. 5801001) should be changed if it has reached a fill level of 80%. From 80% onwards, the suction power of the drill decreases progressively.
The drill will emit a message when the bag is yet 60% full. This gives you adequate experience to plan the change.
When the bag is 80% full, the drill will emit another message.
Change the dust filter bag at the latest when the filter is entirely full (100%). The capacity is sufficient for up to 150 treatments.

Note

Only use original dust filter bags. Only use each dust filter bag once. Do not empty dust filter bags for reuse. Wear a suitable respirator when changing the dust filter bag. This will minimise the risk of infection from grinding dust that may contain pathogens.

Changing the dust filter bag while the drill is switched on

The dust filter bag can be changed while the drill is switched on. However, the handpiece motor must be switched off. If the drill is switched on, the display will show messages during the process. Follow the information on the display.
If the drill is switched on, the message ‘Filter change: dust filter bag’ appears after the cover has been inserted. Answer the question about whether the filter has been changed.

Questions and answers

How often do the filters on Podiatry Drills need to be changed?

DThe dust filter bag should be changed if it reaches a fill level of 80%, as the suction power is reduced from this point onwards. As a guide, this is after approx. 150 treatments.

The HEPA filter lasts up to 3,000 treatments, but should be changed at least once a year.

Why is my dust filter bag (occasionally) not detected?

The dust filter bag may occasionally not be detected because the side tabs are not properly engaged. In addition, the filter must first be inserted into the main unit and then the cover must be attached.

With the Nova 3s, however, the dust filter is first set on the cover and then inserted together.

Another possible reason is that the contact tips on the long side of the dust filter bag are bent or broken off. You can find more information on this in the instructions for use and in the video.

The dust filter bag sits too tightly. How can I remove it?

If the dust filter bag is too tight, it can help to carefully push the tabs outwards with your fingernails or a tool. This is easier if the drill is turned upside down.

Why can't the dust filter cover

The dust filter cover may not be able to be attached because the dust filter bag is closed. The cover may also be inserted upside down – if so, please rotate it.

Another reason could be that the motor plug has not been inserted correctly into the cover. Please check that the flat side is facing outwards.

Why does my dust filter bag not stay in place?

If the dust filter bag does not stay in place, press the side tabs inwards until you hear a light ‘click’ sound. This indicates that the bag is correctly locked into place.

Why is my dust filter cover not detected?

If the dust filter cover is not detected, the contacts on the motor plug may be dirty. These can be carefully cleaned with a cotton swab moistened with a cleaning agent (e.g. disinfectant).
