Even if our detergent yet exerts its disinfecting effect at low temperatures: for especially infectious or potentially infectious laundry, you should select a slightly higher wash temperature of 60 °C or above and allow the detergent to soak into the laundry for around 20 minutes before starting the actual wash cycle.
