Nail reconstruction: Replacing damaged or missing nails

As an additional qualification, it can expand your range of services and then open up an entire new patient base for you. Nail reconstruction provides not only aesthetic solutions for deformed toenails. It can also promote healthy nail growth and then contribute to the complete restoration of the nails. With a lifespan of up to three months, artificial toenails are durable and convenient. Custom-made and perfectly fitted, they are barely distinguishable from natural nails at first glance.

Nail reconstruction and application: Then how do you get the artificial toenail into place?
We reveal the way that is best for the production and application of nail prostheses on the foot – step by step:
- Disinfect the affected toe and completely remove any loose nail fragments using corner nippers.
- Roughen the remaining nail plate with a diamond bur. Then degrease the ground nail with alcohol so that the nail prosthesis adheres securely to it.
- Allow the nail to dry for one to two minutes. Meanwhile, mix the prosthetic material in a mixing bowl using a spatula. Once the solution has a honey-like consistency, you can proceed to the next step.
- Now apply the mixture to the dry nail and create it individually using the spatula and your fingers. Then allow to set for about five minutes.
- Shape the finished prosthesis with the nail drill and smooth it with the diamond bur. If desired, patients can even paint their artificial toenail.
