Orthoses – pressure relief tailored to your patients’ needs

Foot problems such as injuries, medical conditions or malalignments often lead to increased strain on the feet. In such cases, orthoses provide a targeted solution by serving as orthopaedic aids to stabilise the feet and relieve pain. In podiatry, orthoses are custom-made to relieve pressure points and correct malalignments. These specially developed silicone compounds are especially elastic and can be flexibly adjusted to ensure optimum comfort and effective stabilisation.

Customised degrees of hardness – easily mixed

Thanks to the careful combination of the three new RUCK moulding materials, different degrees of hardness can be produced for bespoke orthoses. The resulting colour combinations provide a simple guide and help to determine the correct mixing ratio quickly and consistently.

Based on the specific condition, you can then achieve the optimum balance between stability and elasticity and tailor each orthoses precisely to your patients’ needs.

A high-quality white hardening compound (item no. 7150001), suitable for use with all moulding compounds, is now available for shaping orthoses; it provides a reliable and tried-and-tested basis for individual adjustments. The bespoke orthoses produced from this material combine functionality and comfort, so that they make an important contribution to professional treatment in podiatry and orthopaedics.

Step by step to finding the suitable Orthoses

The mixing chart and spoon set enable orthoses to be produced quickly, with precision and consistency. Using the example of a forefoot pad with a large toe ring, we will show you step by step the correct directions for their use.

1. | Define the area of application

First, select the area of application and make a note of the required quantity in ml. On the back of the mixing chart card, you will find the suitable mixing ratio.

2. | Read the mixing ratio – determine the degree of hardness and the moulding compound based on the application area

Use the 5-ml spoon to measure out the hardener (white). Then, using the 2.5-ml spoon, take one portion each of the Soft moulding compound (light yellow) and Supersoft moulding compound (pink). Thanks to the combination of the components, the desired hardness of ~20 Shore A. is formed.

3. | Mix the moulding material and hardening compound thoroughly

  • 1 x 5 ml of hardening compound using the 5 ml measuring spoon
  • 1 x 2.5 ml each of supersoft and soft moulding material

Mix the moulding material and the hardening compound correctly until a homogeneous mixture is formed.

Tip: The Rinki toe bandage (1.5 cm × 4 m) is suitable for particularly strong reinforcement of retaining rings and delivers greater stability for your orthosis.

4. | Adapting to the patient

Adapting the orthoses to the patient’s specific needs and measurements to ensure maximum comfort and functionality.

5. | Final adjustments with scissors or a sander

Fine-tuning the orthosis using scissors or a sander to achieve the perfect fit and a comfortable surface.

6. | Final product

A bespoke orthoses that is both functional and convenient.
