How to boost your sales with POS promotions

POS campaigns can help you to boost your turnover in a targeted way! Nevertheless, we find time and again that there are still too few of our customers who follow the directions for using POS marketing in your practice. That is why we would like to share a few tips with you on how to successfully use POS marketing in your practice.

Point-of-sale marketing (POS for short) refers to marketing activities that promote a product at the point where it is sold or used. This can involve both the skilful placement of an item within an area and its use during treatment.

1. Make the most of the ‘aha’ moment

Imagine the following:
Your client walks into your practice for the first time. What do they think? What do they see? What do they notice? Have you ever looked at your practice thanks to your client’s eyes? If not, we recommend that you simply try it out for yourself or ask friends to perform this experiment with you. Ask someone you trust to enter your practice and openly and honestly describe what they see first and how it makes them feel. Often, for example, the key treatment chairs/couches are noticed first. But is that what should immediately fall on the eye? Your client might even have anxiety about a treatment and feel put off at first. We therefore recommend that you make targeted use of displays and posters as eye-catchers. Use these effective elements to direct the gaze and then create an effective atmosphere.

2. Flyers as conversation starters

Place a thematically suitable leaflet next to your displays. This can serve as a conversation starter, allowing you to impress with your expertise and know-how. During these conversations, you can elegantly highlight the benefits of your retail products without coming across as pushy to your customers – instead, you’ll be there to offer them advice and support. Then, you sell products yet simultaneously position yourself as a knowledgeable adviser.

3. Affordable, attractive small items encourage impulse buying

Another effective way to boost sales is to deliberately encourage so-called impulse buying. To do this, place affordable items in relaxation areas and waiting areas. This can be, for example, your reception desk or a waiting area in your practice. Make sure that the products placed there require no explanation, but spontaneously encourage a purchase. A good example of this is small bars of natural soap. Even if you only have one treatment room, placing them on a piece of furniture opposite the treatment chair/couch is a good investment. Your clients will have the products entirely in view throughout the treatment, and you can easily work the products into the conversation.

4. Shopping with all your senses

Engage all the senses at your point of sale – in particular, elegant rows of tester displays encourage customers to give products a go. For example, use peclavus foot creams or wellness products, to introduce your customers to the different fragrances and textures. Be sure to label the products as testers – then your customers will be put at ease about trying something new and encouraged to examine the products closely (sense of sight), to touch and open them (sense of touch) and, finally, to smell them (sense of smell). This approach creates a genuine shopping experience even in the smallest practice and is sure to convince your customers to purchase the products.
