Healthy veins, all is well
How to get tired legs moving again
An astonishing 90 per cent of all adults suffer from venous disorders – and are often completely unaware of it! This makes venous disorders one of the most common conditions in Western countries. As many as one in two younger adults aged between 30 and 49 experience symptoms suggestive of venous disorders. The earlier these conditions are treated, the better the prospects of a symptom-free life, even in old age.
Tired, swollen legs in summer or bluish spider veins are clear signs that your veins are not in the best of health. The symptoms associated with them are by no means harmless. On the contrary, if left untreated, they can develop into serious venous insufficiency and ultimately lead to chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). The consequences range from varicose veins to leg ulcers (ulcus cruris venosum).
Genetic and personal risk factors
Venous disorders occur when the veins lose their elasticity, the venous valves are damaged, or the muscle pump no longer functions properly. This leads to a build-up of blood in the legs and the symptoms described. The reasons for this can be varied. The most common risk factors are a genetic predisposition and advancing age. However, a lack of exercise, being overweight, and frequently sitting or standing can also promote blood pooling in the leg veins and inflammation , thereby causing permanent damage to vein function.
RUCK solutions for vein health
There are a wide range of effective treatment options for chronic venous disease. Depending on the treatment objective, these can be combined to relieve symptoms and discomfort, improve oedema and skin changes and prevent the disease from progressing. In particular, the natural active compounds in red vine leaves have been shown to repair vein walls, help strengthen the connective tissue of the vessels and thereby prevent fluid retention in the tissue.
Exercise and massage, plus targeted foot and vein care
Often, those affected are unable to recognise the early signs of chronic venous insufficiency. It is only when the symptoms start to interfere with daily life that they seek help. Yet it is quite simple to prevent venous problems at an early stage. In particular, regular exercise relieves pressure on the veins, activates the muscle pump and thus promotes the return flow of blood. Those who have to stand or sit for long periods at work can support vein health with foot and leg massages as well as contrast baths . However, if the veins are already too severely damaged, therapeutic measures are essential.
Tips for your patients
Improve venous function
Tired, heavy legs can be the first signs of a venous disorder. Red vine leaf extract can help here. It has been proven to strengthen the connective tissue of the blood vessels and reduce the permeability of the vein walls, thereby reducing fluid retention in the tissue. That is why you will find this valuable active ingredient in peclavus PODOcare vine leaf products.
