The half brace - suitable for nails with unilateral deformities
The half brace can be used if the nail is only affected on one side or if a part of the nail plate is missing. Another indication could be where the patient has strong pressure from the neighbouring toe, which could create irritation. In general, the bending force is limited compared to the full brace, as the opposite side of the brace is bonded to the nail and not hooked. The half brace provides moderate relief and is indicated for thin or children’s nails.

Using the GOLDSTADT professional half brace correctly

1. Preparation of the nail

Interview with an expert

„Offer a wide range of individual solutions.“
Elisabeth Prinz, podiatrist and director of her successful practice in the town of Neustadt, Germany.
“The GOLDSTADT professional system can be applied to many areas of use thanks to its versatility. With the help of a GOLDSTADT professional half brace, for example, it is easy for me to treat a nail that is only deformed on one side without affecting the healthy nail fold on the opposite side. This is a great relief for my patients and saves time. The gold coating and its anti-inflammatory properties further support the healing of the nail fold.”
How does a half brace work?
„The half brace works by using the law of leverage. If the end of the brace to be attached is secured to the nail, e.g. by glue or by hooking it into the edge of the nail, the lifting force is transferred to the nail. The brace is activated by bending it against the arch of the nail.“
Does the GOLDSTADT professional half brace have a place in the podiatry clinic?
„Absolutely! Anyone who treats patients with a large range of medical conditions should definitely also be able to offer a large range of individual solutions.“
