Reprocessing of HybridCaps using the STERI-SAFEpro

Optimum instrument hygiene and adherence to a structured reprocessing cycle have two key benefits:

  1. Clean and safe instruments, to protect patients and healthcare professionals
  2. Preventing damage to instruments so that their premature wear and tear is prevented

For these reasons, when reprocessing all rotating instruments – including the HybridCap – it is recommended that the STERI-SAFEpro instrument stand and the accompanying hygiene box be used so that the working parts of the rotating instruments cannot come into contact with one another or knock against each other, to prevent damage. Furthermore, the STERI-SAFEpro is made from a special medical-grade plastic and can therefore be used for all standard reprocessing methods, whether for use in ultrasonic cleaners, washer-disinfectors (WD), autoclaves or even in hot-air sterilizers up to 180°C. During all processes, the instruments stay secured in place thanks to a safety bar.

Revolutionary and hygienic – the HybridCaps

The HybridCap, featuring a revolutionary, modern hybrid grit made from diamond and ceramic, delivers high abrasion performance along with faster working times, yet delivers smoother surfaces during keratectomy. In terms of economic performance and sustainability, the HybridCaps are a real asset, as you can use them hundreds of times. The caps and holders are fully reusable. You therefore only need one cap instead of hundreds. A clear benefit for your wallet and for the environment. The HybridCaps with their cap holders are certified Class IIa medical devices and provide users and patients a high level of safety.

So that hygienic reprocessing is ensured and premature wear is prevented, we recommend using the STERI-SAFEpro for both reprocessing and subsequent storage. To do this, the HybridCap is removed from the cap holder and placed on the separate cap holding pins in the STERI-SAFEpro, along with the individual cap holders. This ensures that the entire cap, including all its internal and external surfaces, is fully softened by cleaning and disinfectant. Along with the HybridCaps on the retaining pins, all other rotating instruments in the STERI-SAFEpro are optimally protected against falling out. Discover now Find out more.

Step by step with the STERI-SAFEpro

Step 1

After treatment, coarse dirt is removed from the HybridCaps, which are then placed in the STERI-SAFEpro and stored temporarily in the suitable hygiene box filled with instrument disinfectant for pre-disinfection. With regard to cleaning and disinfectants, it is important to strictly adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions, particularly the mixing ratio for concentrates along with the maximum exposure time, in order to prevent damage, such as corrosion, to your instruments.

Step 2

As the STERI-SAFEpro, HybridCaps and carriers are fully compatible with all standard sterilisation methods, the loaded STERI-SAFEpro can be thermally disinfected or sterilised in all standard sterilisers (autoclaves and hot-air sterilisers up to 180°C) once it has dried completely.

Step 3

During the process, the loaded STERI-SAFEpro can be removed from the hygiene box and placed in an ultrasonic bath for cleaning if required. As an option, the loaded STERI-SAFEpro can be processed in a washer-disinfector (RDG).

Step 4

Once removed from the steriliser, the reprocessed HybridCaps can be stored safely and protected from dust in the hygiene box using the STERI-SAFEpro.

A strong team

So that hygienic reprocessing is ensured and premature wear and tear of the instruments is prevented, we recommend using the STERI-SAFEpro for the reprocessing and subsequent storage of rotary instruments. It guarantees optimum reprocessing results and prevents unnecessary damage to instruments. Combined with the revolutionary HybridCap, a sustainable treatment concept can be established in the practice, reducing waste volumes and practice expenditure on consumables such as single-use caps.
