Nail knives

Nail knives: High-quality podiatry instruments from HELLMUT RUCK

Special drills and tools are used for podological applications to guarantee safe and injury-free treatment. One of the most common instruments with you is the nail knife. In podiatry, nail knives are found, among other things, for assessing the general health of the toenails, but also for treating nail problems and diseases. These diseases can have different causes. For example, a fungal infection, an ingrown nail or an injury can instead be the reason for the formation of health problems.

In order to be able to treat such medical problems, the affected nails must be processed in a certain way - nail knives make probing easier for podiatrists and foot care professionals and are also essential for various treatment methods, such as tamponading affected nail areas. Thanks to their special type, they enable safe handling and targeted treatment without risk of injury. Like all our nail instruments, HELLMUT RUCK nail knives are also made of stainless, highly robust and wear-free steel. This makes them extremely durable and yet ensures optimum cleaning and hygiene conditions.

Since cleanliness and care are the top priority in the podiatry sector, nail knives must also always be cleaned and disinfected correctly. For this purpose, our product range includes certified products for instrument disinfection, but also for hygienic cleaning and preparation of (upper) surfaces along with professional hygiene consumables.

What HELLMUT RUCK nail knives are used for

A nail knife is made of a sharp blade fixed in a handle or holder. The blade can be of different types and sizes depending on the purpose for which it is used. One of the most common problems for which nail knives are used in podiatry is ingrown nails. If the nail grows into the tissue surrounding it, this can lead to pain, inflammation and other unpleasant symptoms.

In most cases, ingrown nails are located in the wrong toenail cutting or in shoes that are too tight. Thanks to podiatric treatment, unpleasant symptoms can be eliminated as well as the underlying problem. Treating ingrown nails can also minimise other health risks.

In order to be able to optimally treat an ingrown nail, the following must be observed: Correct disinfection of the area to be treated - as well as that of the treatment instruments used - prevents the transmission of germs, bacteria or fungi that can lead to infection. Then, with the help of a nail knife, a part of the nail is carefully removed in order to reduce the pressure on the surrounding tissue and to relieve the pain. This is followed by another disinfection. To protect and relieve the pressure on the treated tissue, a tamponade or bandage is usually applied. This can then best regenerate the irritated tissue and protect it better from pressure or impact.

A nail knife can also be practical for processing the nail in case of different nail problems, such as thickened or deformed nails. Like all podiatric instruments, it should only be applied by trained podiatrists and foot care professionals who have adequate specialist knowledge. Then injuries and complications can be prevented.
