Which drill is most suitable for my practice?

A vital part of your clinic equipment

Within practice, a drill is a vital part of your clinic equipment. To find the perfect model for your needs, however, you don’t need a confusing variety of models or many buttons on the drill, but only the best manufacturing and maximum functionality for everyday use - and suited to the way you work.

The question why a drill is worthwhile can be answered quickly: It makes many work processes easier and faster whilst being kind to your back and hands. From removing calluses and cracked skin to a variety of nail treatments and the precise customisation of

orthoses or reconstructed nails: you are perfectly supported. The drill can assist you in numerous ways, as it is compatible with a wide range of burs and attachments. You should also expect high quality and an uncomplicated design, which the PODOLOG drills most definitely are. They are designed for intuitive operation that feels as if it’s made specifically for you, right from the start. And not only that: the less components a drill has, the easier it is to clean and the more durable it is. Remember that since you use your drill every day, it is essential that it is suitable for your personal needs.

What should I consider when purchasing a drill?

First Criterion: Medical or non-medical use

Podiatrists carry out medical treatments so any products used by podiatrists need to be suitable for medical use. This means ensuring that the drill conforms to the current medical device regulations. The PODOLOG NOVA 3s Podiatry Drill does indeed conform to the current EU and UK Class IIa medical device regulations.

Second Criterion: Frequency of use

How often and for how long do you use your drill? The running time has a significant impact on the demands you should expect from your drill - especially in terms of durability, volume and manoeuvrability. Your drill functions as a supportive partner at your side - so the decision to purchase it must always be well considered.

Third criterion: Your daily challenges

Are you on the move? Then low weight and compact dimensions are important criteria. Do you want the patient to remain relaxed? Then the drill should have good noise insulation. Do you carry out many nail treatments or regularly modify orthoses? In that case, a higher maximum rotation speed is beneficial.
