Cleaning made easy
In an ultrasonic bath, your instruments become spotlessly clean. But how does it actually work?
Learn moreSterilisation room accessories for practice equipment
The hygienic reprocessing of instruments and equipment requires high-quality sterilisation room accessories. Then you can minimise the risk of infection and comply with legal requirements for disinfection and sterilisation. The key element here is a seamless reprocessing cycle in the hygiene room. Discover RUCK’s hygiene room and disinfection products, such as sterilisers, autoclaves, thermal disinfectors and dispenser systems.
What does ‘hygiene room’ mean?
In day-to-day practice, reliable skin and wound disinfection is essential to prevent infections and the spread of pathogens. Equally important is a hygiene protocol that reliably incorporates statutory hygiene and infection control regulations. At the heart of a hygiene protocol is the so-called hygiene room. This is where instruments and equipment are cleaned, disinfected and sterilised, and prepared for their next use.
It is recommended that the hygiene room be divided into a ‘dirty’ and a ‘clean’ area, along with an area for ‘storage’. In the unclean area, actions such as the cleaning and disinfection of instruments are carried out. In the clean area, visual inspection, sterilisation, packaging, final inspection and final approval take place. This ensures that recontamination or contaminants stay away during the storage of sterilised instruments.
What hygiene room accessories are available?
As the requirements for hygiene rooms are high, a wide range of specialised equipment and numerous accessories are available. These include:
- Autoclaves
- Sterilisers
- Thermal disinfectors
- Cleaning and disinfection equipment
- Dispenser systems for skin and hand disinfection
- Towel dispensers
- Ultrasonic devices
- Film sealing machines
- Medical waste bins
- Water treatment units
- Ultrasonic devices
Disinfection or sterilisation: the difference
Depending on the type of application, a distinction can be made between disinfection and sterilisation:
- Disinfection: Disinfection enables reliable germ reduction, whereby microorganisms can be reduced to a harmless minimum. A thermal disinfector is usually used for instruments and equipment. Surface disinfectants, on the other hand, are used for surface disinfection.
- Sterilisation: Sterilisation involves significantly more aggressive methods that guarantee the complete absence of bacteria and viruses. The aim is to kill all microorganisms and spores. This involves the use of autoclaves, hot-air sterilizers, sterilisation packaging and containers, along with film sealing machines.
For a seamless hygiene cycle, traceable documentation of instrument reprocessing is also essential.
An overview of our hygiene room accessories
Our product range provides the following hygiene room accessories, amongst others:
- Autoclaves: Autoclaves, also known as steam sterilizers, are used to achieve absolute sterility through sterilisation. Steam is used as the sterilising agent. High pressure within the unit causes the steam to reach temperatures of up to 134 degrees, killing all microorganisms.
- Cleaning and disinfection units (CDUs): CDUs enable proper mechanical cleaning and disinfection during the reprocessing cycle. They use mechanical, thermal and chemical treatment, similar to a dishwasher with inserts and racks for instruments. Depending on the model, water enriched with chemicals is used under high pressure and at high temperatures.
- Hot-air sterilisers: Similar to the autoclave, hot-air sterilisers also use heated air. This is dry hot air that reaches even slightly higher temperatures of up to 350 degrees.
- Ultrasonic cleaning devices: Rapid, hygienic cleaning is achieved using ultrasonic frequencies and various ultrasonic modes. Ultrasonic cleaning is often carried out prior to the use of disinfection units and sterilisers.
- Water treatment systems: These function in water treatment for cleaning and disinfection cycles, ranging from full desalination to quality monitoring.
- Film sealing machines: These ensure germ-free, antiseptic sterilisation in the autoclave, along with the germ-free storage and retrieval of sterilised instruments and equipment in the practice.
- Dispenser systems: You need dispenser systems in your practice for the quick, contactless dispensing of skin and hand disinfectants, along with hygienic towel dispensing.
